Margaret E. A. Rope (1891 - 1988) studied at the Chelsea School of Art under Karl Parsons and Alfred J. Drury. During 1911 she worked at The Glass House assisting her cousin Margaret Agnes Rope. After World War I she returned to The Glass House and continued working with her as well as on independent commissions. When Margaret Agnes left London in 1923 Margaret Edith Aldrich retained the studio at The Glass House working from there and from the mid 1920s at her flat at 61 Deodar Road, Putney (later at 81a Deodar Road). After World War II she returned to her own studio at 89 Deodar Road assisted by her pupil Clare Dawson. She carried on working into the 1970's.

Her nickname was 'Tor' and in her later life she sometimes used a tortoise as her makers mark. However in the main her works are more often than not completely unsigned.
